She was a native of Isle of Wight County, and had resided in this section for 35 years. She was the widow of Dr. W.B. Ashburn and daughter of the late Mills and Mrs. Mary Louise Pruden Godwin. She is survived by two sons, Dr. Horace G. Ashburn and William B. Ashburn, of Norfolk; a brother, C.B. Godwin, and a sister, Mrs. Emma Pope, both of Chuckatuck; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ashburn was a member of Berkley Avenue Baptist Church, and Niemeyer-Shaw Chapter, Daughters of the Confederacy. The body will be taken from the funeral home of E. Lee Cox & Bro., 631 Westover avenue, to the residence, 1144 Chesapeake avenue, South Norfolk, for funeral services this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. The Rev. Beecher L. Rhodes, pastor of Berkley Avenue Baptist Church, and the Rev. David C. George, rector of St. Bride's Episcopal Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot in Magnolia Cemetery.
