Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark January 14, 1914
 Mary Holmes Ashburn, wife of Rev. W.R. Ashburn, pastor of the First Baptist 
Church, colored, at Franklin, Va., died at that place Monday evening at 9:30 
o'clock.
The funeral will take place in the First Baptist Church, Berkley, Thursday 
afternoon at 2 o'clock.  She was a daughter of Nathaniel Holmes, 309 Mahone 
avenue, and was among the best known colored people of this section  The burial 
will be in Mount Olive Cemetery.
