The Norfolk Virginian Pilot December 23, 1943


Wallace P. Ashburn, aged 71 years, son of the late Alexander and Mrs. Sarah K. 
Ashburn, a native of Windsor, N.C., and for many years a resident of this 
section, died at 5:15 o’clock Wednesday morning at the residence, Fifty-Second 
Street, Virginia Beach. Surviving are one son, W.R. Ashburn, three 
grandchildren, W.R. Ashburn, Jr., and Misses Susan and Virginia Ashburn, of 
Virginia Beach; one sister, Mrs. Julian Oates, and a brother, W.H. Ashburn, of 
Norfolk. Services will be held at the chapel of the H.D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments tomorrow morning at 11 o’clock, with the Rev. Stiles B. Lines, 
pastor of Galilee Episcopal Church, Virginia Beach, which Mr. Ashburn 
attended, officiating. Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
