Norfolk Virginian Pilot February 18, 1937

Charles Hill Ashburn, aged 71, son of A.H., and Mrs. Sarah Owens Ashburn, died 
at the residence of his sister, Mrs. Julia A. Oates, 505 Clay Avenue, yesterday 
afternoon at 5:30 o’clock. Mr. Ashburn was a native of Windsor, Va., and a 
resident of Norfolk for the past 55 years. He was district superintendent of 
the Postal Telegraph Company; a member of the Kiwanis Club, and a deacon of the 
Park Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Ashburn is survived by one son, Charles Hill 
Ashburn, Jr.; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Ashburn; a sister Mrs. Oates, all of 
Norfolk; two brothers, W.P., and W.H. Ashburn, of Virginia Beach, and a number 
of nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
