The Virginian Pilot Saturday September 23, 1939
Miss Mary Ellen Ashley, aged 83, died at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. F.M. 

Brewer, 867 West Ocean View avenue, yesterday at 12 o'clock, noon.  Miss Ashley 

was a native of Pasquotank County, N.C., and had been a resident of Norfolk 63 

years.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home tomorrow 

afternoon at 2 o'clock.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
