Detroit, Mich - William Askew, 45, of 3785 Blain St., Detroit, died Sunday 
in a Detroit hospital after a short illness. He was a son of the late Joseph 
N. and Mrs. Hettie C. Askew. He was a native of Bertie County NC.

He had lived in Norfolk for six years, prior to moving to Detroit where he 
was operating a cleaning and pressing business.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Develan Askew; two daughters, Miss Jean 
Askew and Miss Dean Askew, both of Detroit; one sister, Mrs Oscar Stancil of 
Norfolk; four brothers, J. C. Askew and Alexander Askew of Norfolk, Lonnie 
Askew of Philadelphia and Robert Askew of Ahoskie NC.

The body was sent to Morning Glory Funeral Home, Norfolk. A funeral service 
will be held at First Calvary Baptist Church in Norfolk, Sunday at 1:30 p.m. 
by the Rev. C. E. Griffin, pastor. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
