Norfolk - Mrs. Alice M. Askew of 1516 Corprew Ave. died Monday in a Norfolk
hospital after a long illness.

A native of Belhaven, NC, she was a daughter of Hyman and Mrs. Rose Etta Dills
and the widow of Roosevelt Askew.

She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Queen Esther Chapter of Order of
Eastern Star, and Ladies Auxiliary to Eureka Lodge.

She retired from Norfolk General Hospital after 37 years.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Cassie Lanier of Belhaven and Mrs. Emma Smith
of Norfolk;  two brothersx, Connie Dills and James Dills of Belhaven;  two
sisters, Mrs. Ada O’Neal of Belhaven and Mrs. Arnella Chadwick of Goldsboro, NC;
 four grandchildren, a great-grandchil, and four great-great-grandhildren.

A funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Riddick Funeral Service by
the Rev. John B. Henderson.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
