Barbara was born to Johnnie and Janie Jordan on October 5, 1954. Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie, cousin, and friend. She was known for her infectious laugh, positive energy, encouraging words, and most of all her love for Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. She was a faithful servant of God and a member of The Greater House of Faith Apostolic Church, Norfolk, Virginia. Barbara attended Norfolk Public Schools and graduated from Maury High School in Norfolk, Virginia. She also worked in food service for Norfolk Public Schools and retired from the S.T.O.P. Organization's Central Kitchen in 2021. Barbara enjoyed being around her family. She often spent hours on the phone talking to her big sister "Limey". She loved her gospel music and used her beautiful voice to sing along and praise the Lord's name. Barbara was no stranger to hard work and enjoyed her job and coworkers, whom she spoke highly of. She lived humbly, never complained, and wore her heart on her sleeve. She was the best at keeping secrets, and to this day, only she and God share those unspoken moments. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Johnnie and Janie Jordan, her husband Leon Atkinson, her Sisters, Texie "Sis" Cowell, Sally "Lou" Jordan, and Joyce "Limey" Lane. Brothers, Clarence "Tubby" Jordan and George Jordan. She leaves behind to cherish her memory brothers, Johnnie "Speedy" Jordan, Melvin Jordan, Gerald Jordan, and Bobby "Pop" Jordan (Gail); Sons, Curtis Jordan Sr. (Kia) and Julius Jordan. Daughters, Erica Davis (Carlton) and Shameka Atkinson. Grandchildren, Curtis Jr., Tyshawn, Catrelle, Kaederion, Kaemani, Blessyn, David, Kyree, Emoni, Jenesis, and Elijah. Great-grandchild, Aubrey Mae, and a plethora of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Barbara will be dearly missed, but we know she would want us all to continue to love one another and give all praises to God. While she may not be here in her temporary earthly body, her spirit and grace will forever and always fill our hearts. We love you!
