Ann C. Atkinson, 86, of the 2400 block of Stribling Lane, died Dec. 1, 2007, in a 
local hospital. She was a native of Portsmouth and was the daughter of the late 
Francis J. and Harriett Mounie Cunningham. She was predeceased by a sister, 
Catherine Appleton; a brother, Francis J. Cunningham Jr.; and a son, Joseph 
Atkinson. She retired from the Naval Supply Center, Norfolk, FMSO, as a computer 
analyst and was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Survivors include her 
husband of 66 years, Charles A. Atkinson Sr.; her daughter, Charlotte A. Sochor 
and her husband, Thomas, of Norfolk; her sons, Charles A. Atkinson Jr. and Michael 
Atkinson and his wife, Susan, of Norfolk; her sister, Mae C. Wakefield; and her 
brother, Charles H. Cunningham, both of Portsmouth; six grandchildren and 10 
great-grandchildren. The funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Pius X Catholic 
Church, Friday at 10 a.m. by Father Thomas Powers. The family will receive friends 
in the Norfolk Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Thursday at 7 p.m.
