On Tuesday, April 6, 1999, Ruby S. Penello Atkinson entered into eternal rest at 
her home in Alexandria, Va.

Mrs. Atkinson was born in Moyock, N.C. Her first husband of more than 50 years, 
Angelo J. Penello, died in 1981. Her second husband, Joe M. Atkinson, died in 
1988. Her only son, Frank Penello, died in 1998. Mrs. Atkinson spent most of her 
life in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, only recently moving to Alexandria. She was a 
member of the Fleet Reserve Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her niece, Anne Wingfield; two granddaughters, Susan Abbott and 
Winfred Miller; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Church of the Holy Family in 
Virginia Beach by Chaplain James Fedor. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in 
Norfolk. The family will receive friends at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin 
Road, today from 4 to 7 p.m.
