Virginian-Pilot September 27, 1969
HAMPTON - Avery Joseph Austin, 70, died Thursday in Kecoughtan Veterans Hospital.
A native of Norfolk, he was a son of William B. and Mrs. Mattie Hawk Austin.
He was a Methodist, an Army veteran of World War I, and a Navy veteran of World 
War II.
He is survived by two brothers, George Austin and W. Baxter Austin of Norfolk.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. today in Veterans Administration Chapel by 
Chaplain E. R. Dowdy. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk. Lawrence B. 
Wood Funeral Home, Hampton, has charge.
