Virginian Pilot and Norfolk Landmark Friday January 6, 1933
Mrs. Elsie H. Herzog Avery, wife of William J. Avery, died at her residence, 
503 First street, Ocean View, yesterday afternoon at 4:40 o'clock after a 
short illness.  She was a daughter of the late Baldwin and Mrs. Alvenia 
Herzog and was a native of Germany.  She had resided in Norfolk for a number 
of years.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Johnny Robinson Avery, of 
Baltimore; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Rudiger, and a brother, William S. 
Herzog, of Norfolk, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the Derry 
Funeral Home, 1615 Colonial avenue, and will be conducted by the Rev. L.W. 
Strickler, pastor of the First Lutheran Church.  Burial will be in Elmwood 
Cemetery.
