Norfolk Journal and Guide, May 4,1946
Norfolk - Mrs. Elenora Avery, a native of Danville, VA, who for the past 20 
years has made her home in this city, died at DePaul Hospital this city on 
April 29.  Her last place of residence was 1718 Church street.  Mrs. Avery was 
a member of the New Calvary Baptist Church and the United Order of Tents.  She 
was also a very active social worker in and around the Norfolk community.  
Surviving her are:  One sister, Mrs. Madie Carter;  three sons, Malcom, James 
and Samuel, and six grandchildren.
