Norfolk Virginian December 16, 1896
Mr. William D. Aydlotte (sic), who was stricken with paralysis several days ago, 
died yesterday morning at 8:20 o’clock at the home of his son, Mr. Charles S. 
Aydlotte (sic), No. 28 Falkland street, aged 66 years. He was a well-known and 
highly esteemed citizen and was, for a long period, in the grocery business in the 
City Market. He was an official member of the Cumberland street Methodist church, 
from which his funeral will take place this afternoon at 3 o’clock. The deceased 
as an ex-Confederate and a Mason of high degree.

Additional Comments:
His tombstone shows his date of death as December 16, but his obituary and the 
Virginia Deaths and Burials Index show his death occurring on the 15th.
