A native of Norfolk, she was the widow John Aydlett and a daughter of Floyd Bates of Norfolk and the late Mrs. Daisy Bates. She was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church. Besides her father, surviving are two brothers, Robert Bates and Jerome Bates; and five sisters, Mrs. Gladys B. Banks,Mrs. Maryland B. Key, Mrs. Lugretha B. Morgan, Mrs. Elois B. Ferebee, and Mrs. Ruth B. Snipes, all of Norfolk. Services were held in First Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. Roy Edler. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Riddick Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
