The Norfolk Virginian Pilot Friday November 19, 1937
Joseph W. Babb, age 43, died in a Portsmouth hospital yesterday morning at 3 
o'clock after a brief illness. He was the son of A.H. and Mary Newton Babb, of 
South Norfolk. He was a native of Plymouth, N.C., and has resided in this 
section 25 years. Besides his wife, Mrs. Claudia Daily Babb, he is survived by 
two children, Hugh and Rudolph Babb, of Norfolk; three brothers, Jesse J. W.H. 
Babb, Jr., and Ira W. Babb; two sisters, Mrs. Mary E. Foster of South Norfolk, 
and Mrs. Leona Cartwright, of Norfolk.
The body was removed to the J.R. Williams Funeral Home, 1027 Chesapeake avenue, 
South Norfolk, where funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 3 
o'clock. Interment will be in the family plot in Riverside Memorial Park.

Date on tombstone is Nov. 17, 1937.  According to obituary and funeral home 
record, date of death was the 18th.
