He was a native here and had resided in this section all of his life, being highly esteemed by a large circle of friends. He is survived by his wife, a son, R. E. Backus, a daughter, Mrs. F. D. Lambert, four brothers, J. W., B. F., V. L. and H. T. Backus, and three sisters, Mrs. W. J. Vanderberry, Mrs. Henry Wilder and Mrs. Charles Boudroe. The funeral occurs at 10 o’clock tomorrow morning from the Zion Methodist Church, Lambert’s Point, of which he was a member, the pastor, Rev. J. W. S. Robins, and Rev. George W. Cox, of the Burrows Memorial Baptist Church, officiating. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery.
