Norfolk - Mrs. Carrie Backers, 64-year-old Ahoskie, NC, native was given final
rites Thursday at 2 p.m. in Mt. Zion Baptist Church by the Rev. W. O. Deloatch.
Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery with Hale Funeral Home in charge.

A resident of 2712 Myrtle avenue, she was a daughter of William and Mrs. Louisa
Williams and the widow of Henry Backers. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist
Church.

Surviving are three sons, Linwood Backers and Henry Backers of Norfolk, and
David Backers of the Bronx, NY; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Etheridge of the
Bronx, Mrs. Elsie B. Millner and Mrs. Ida M. Alson of Norfolk; 30 grandchildren
and a great-grandchild.
