Virginian Pilot March 11, 1960

Mrs. Katherine ("Katie") Virginia Seeley Backus, widow of Albert Cleveland 
Backus and daughter of the late Robert W. and Mrs. Virginia Seeley, died 
Thursday at 11:48 a.m. in a Norfolk hospital.
Mrs. Backus was a lifelong resident of Norfolk, lately at 820 Shirley Ave.
She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving are two brothers. John S. Seeley of Norfolk and Robert W. Seeley Jr. 
of Washington.
The body was taken to H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments.

BACKUS, KATHERINE VIRGINIA SEELEY – At a local hospital, Thursday, March 10, 
1960, at 11:48 a.m., KATHERINE VIRGINIA SEELEY BACKUS, widow of Albert Cleveland 
Backus, and daughter of the late Robert W., and Virginia Waller Seeley, in the 
72nd year of her age. Services at the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 
Colonial Ave., SUNDAY AFTERNOON, March 13, at 2 o’clock. Friends of the family 
are invited to attend. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery.
