The Virginian Pilot March 1, 1993
Charles Leslie Smith Bailey, 76, of the 900 block of Spotswood Ave., a retired 
cabinetmaker, died Sat., Feb. 27, 1993, in his Norfolk residence. 
Mr. Bailey was born in Norfolk. He was a member of Heritage United Methodist 
Church, Virginia Beach, and had served in the Merchant Marines during World War 
II. 
Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Bailey; a daughter, Donna B. Elkins of 
Stephenson, Va.; two sons, Michael Bailey of Norfolk and Charles M. Bailey of 
Chesapeake; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by his parents, Florida Hall Bailey and Charles Campbell 
Bailey. 
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery 
by the Rev. Jay S. Ashby. The family will be at Cox Funeral Home today from 7 to 
8 p.m.
