The Norfolk Virginian Pilot January 3, 1937 

Harvey Lee Bailey, age 75 years, husband of the late Zenetta Clarinda Boynton 
Bailey, died at 4 o’clock yesterday morning at the residence of her son in law, 
William Whitfield Sawyer, No. 315 Sixteenth Street, Virginia Beach, after an 
illness of four weeks. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. William 
Whitfield Sawyer, of Virginia Beach; Mrs. William C. Hayes, of Norfolk, and 
Mrs. Bailey Gresham, of New Your City; two sons I. Boynton Bailey, of Rocky 
Mount, N.C., and James Nash Bailey, of Virginia Beach, and the following 
grandchildren, of Virginia Beach, Mrs. William Davidson Falconer, Jr., Carolyn 
and Anne Gresham, James Nash, Jr., and Betty Lee Bailey, Jack Hayes, of 
Norfolk; Mrs. Ralph Percival and Charlotte Bailey, of Rocky Mount, N.C., and 
one great-grandchild, Corinne Whitfield Falconer, of Virginia Beach; one 
sister, Mrs. Emma Bailey Hyslop, and one brother, N.P. Bailey, of Norfolk. 
Remains will be taken from H.D. Oliver’s Funeral Apartments, 610-12 East 
Freemason Street, to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, for services this afternoon 
at 2:30 o’clock, with the Rev. J.S. Watt, rector, and the Rev. E.P. Miner, 
rector of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment in Elmwood 
Cemetery.
