NORFOLK - James "Bubba" Robert Bailey II went home to be with the Lord Nov. 17, 
2007. He was born Nov. 4, 1922, to the late J. Robert and Viola Bailey in 
Norfolk. He was predeceased by his sister, Margie Gray and his oldest grandson, 
Samuel Bailey . 

Mr. Bailey attended Norfolk Public Schools. He also served in the U.S. Army from 
June 1943 until February 1946 and received several service awards and medals 
including a World War II Victory Medal. He retired from Chemical Research Inc. 
after many years of service.

Mr. Bailey leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 57 years, Virginia Jones 
Bailey ; daughter, Eula Palmer and sons, James (Janoyce), Kenny (Marsha), Larry 
(Deidre), Alonzo (Lisa), and Vincent. Also left to cherish his memory are a host 
of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

The family will receive friends at 1124 Wide St., Norfolk. Viewing will be held 
Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at J.T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N. George 
Washington Hwy., Chesapeake. A life celebration service will be held at 11 a.m. 
Saturday in New Calvary Baptist Church, 800 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. 
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk.
