She was accompanied by her husband, but as he was unable to secure employment, left her to seek it elsewhere. Since then she has lived there with eight cats, her only companions. Last Friday she was visited by a colored woman whom she informed that one of the cats had bitten her and from the effects of which she was suffering. The colored woman then, as she was requested, returned with some oranges, and as the lady appeared to be asleep, they were left at her door, where three days later they were discovered and the neighbors on entering the room found her unconscious in bed, and the cats, nearly starved from their long fast, alongside of her. Everything was done for her by her neighbors and kind friends, but without avail as she died yesterday morning. She is said to have been rich at one time and to be of one of the best families in the State, but reverses had left her completely destitute. Her husband was notified and will come to take charge of her remains.
