Ewell James Baker, 70, of Virginia Beach, a retired barber from Cartwright Barber 
Shop in Norfolk, died February 18, 1994, in a Virginia Beach Hospital.
Mr. Baker was born in Putnam, VA.  He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in 
Norfolk, where he was also a member of the Men's Bible Class.  Mr. Baker was a 
WWII and Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Baker; two daughters, Linda Baker Meade of 
Pound, VA, Dawn Elaine Elsea of Charlotte, NC; two sons, Dennis Ewing Baker of 
Campton, KY, Charles Foster Baker of Virginia Beach; his mother, Margie Lambert 
Baker of Pound, VA; a sister, Mary Baker Bledsoe of Pound, VA;  four brothers, 
Eugene Baker of Chattanooga, TN, Richard Baker of Knoxville, TN, Hubert Baker of 
Aiken, SC, Bobby Baker of Sterling, VA; six grandchildren; and one great 
grandchild.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, February 21, 1994, in 
Trinity Baptist Church on Ballentine Blvd. in Norfolk, by Rev. John Mason.  Burial 
will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at a later date.  Memorial donations may be made to 
the American Cancer Society or to the Trinity Baptist Church on Ballentine Blvd. 
in Norfolk, VA.  H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling 
arrangements.
