Mr. Baker was born in Cheriton, Va. He was employed with the City of Norfolk as a water works employee for 30 years. He was a member of Philadelphia Church of Christ Disciples. He was a member of the Deacon Board and the Trustee Board. He was a member of the Progressive Masonic Lodge 80 and the Eureka Lodge of Norfolk. Survivors include his wife, Edith M. Baker; a daughter, Anissa S. Baker of Norfolk; three sisters, Martha M. Hinton and Bernice Allgood, both of Norfolk, and Edna Heard of Providence, R.I.; and a brother, Earl Baker of Boston, Mass. He was predeceased by his parents, Christine B. Baker and Willie Baker. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Tabernacle Prayer of All Peoples, 5104 Colley Ave., Norfolk, by the Rev. Roger Keating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A wake will be held Tuesday night in Hale Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. The family will assemble at his residence.
