Baker, aged 81, died last night at his residence, 204 West Berkley avenue, after a long illness. He was the son of the late Joseph and Frances Culpeper Baker, who were widely known in this section. Mr. Baker, who was born in Portsmouth and had made his home in Berkley for the last 57 years, was retired several years from the Berkley Fire Department. He was a member of Memorial M.E. Church, Tidewater Council, Junior Order of American Mechanics and of the Knights of Pythias. The survivors include two daughters, Nellie May Baker, of Norfolk; Georgia Baker Lingamfelter and one son, Emmett H. Baker, of New York. The body was rermoved to the funeral home of J.R. Williams, 1027 Chesapeake avenue, South Norfolk. Funeral arrangements are pending. ************************************************************* George W. Williams, 1027 Chesapeake avenue, South Norfolk, this afternoon at 3 o'clock. Interment will be in the family lot in Magnolia Cemetery.
