Norfolk Virginian June 8, 1897

BAKER - Entered into rest, at her home 71 Bermuda Street, Norfolk, Va., June 
7th, 1897, MARY ANN, beloved wife of William Baker and mother of Mrs. William 
Thompson, in the 65th year of her age.
Funeral will be at the Cumberland Street M.E. Church WEDNESDAY, June 9th at 3 
o'clock. Friends and acquaintances are respectfully requested to attend.

Mrs. Mary Ann Baker, wife of Mr. William Baker, died Monday at her home on 
Bermuda Street, in the sixty-fifth year of her age. The funeral will take place 
at 3 o'clock this afternoon from the Cumberland Street Methodist Church. The 
deceased was a lady of most generous traits of character and was a member of the 
above church. It is said that during the civil war she rendered valuable aid to 
the Confederacy as a nurse.
