She was born in Greenville, N.C., May 3, 1914, the daughter of Charles Stuart Carr and Pattie Skinner Carr. The family moved to Norfolk in 1916. She was a graduate of Sweet Briar College and married Robert F. Baldwin who died in 1974. Mrs. Baldwin was a member of Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church and was active for many years in the cultural and charitable life of Norfolk, working as a volunteer for the Children's Theatre, the Norfolk/Chrysler Museum, the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters and Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was a member of the Junior League of Norfolk, the National Society of Colonial Dames of America in Virginia and the Garden Club of Norfolk. Mrs. Baldwin was an active supporter of her husband's 30-year political career in the Virginia House of Delegates and Senate where among other accomplishments he was known for spearheading the Norfolk- Virginia Beach Expressway. A lifelong resident of Norfolk, he managed Baldwin Bros. & Taylor, the family's real estate and insurance business. She is survived by her son and daughter, Robert F. Baldwin Jr. and Myra Stuart Osmond, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Harriet Carr Waddill formerly of Norfolk and her two brothers, Charles A. Carr formerly of Danville and Charles Stuart Carr formerly of Richmond. A memorial service, led by the Rev. Dr. Greg Dalle-Tezze, will be held in the Westminster Canterbury Chapel, 3100 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach, and Friday, March 13, at 11 a.m. Burial will be private. Donations may be directed to Westminster Canterbury Foundation, 3100 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach, in lieu of flowers. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
