Virginian-Pilot January 19, 1899
The obsequies of Mr. George W. Ball, whose sudden death occurred at his home, No. 
241 Chapel street, Tuesday, were solemnized from the residence at 3:30 o’clock 
yesterday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. S. C. Hatcher, of the 
Queen Street M. E. Church, assisted by Rev. J. B. Merritt, of the Seamen’s Bethel. 
The interment was in Elmwood Cemetery. Following were the pallbearers: Capt. N. 
McHorney, Lemuel Simmons, John T. Williamson, Benjamin Reynolds, Frank Topping and 
L. W. Atwood.
