Virginian Pilot September 7, 1993

Ruby Talbott Ballance, 102, of the 1900 block of Edgewood Ave., died Sept. 6, 
1993.
Mrs. Ballance was a native of Long Point, Currituck County, N.C. She was the 
widow of Temple Charlie Ballance and the daughter of the late Joseph Francis 
Talbott and Adelia Taylor Talbott. She was a charter member of Christ United 
Methodist Church in Norfolk and served her church as secretary for many years. 
Mrs. Ballance was a member of the Old Dominion Chapter of the Eastern Star No. 
100, OES of Capeview. She was a member of Capeview Garden Club and also was a 
volunteer for many civic groups in Norfolk.
Survivors include a brother, Ray Talbott of Poplar Branch, N.C.; a sister-in-
law, Florence G. Talbott of Virginia Beach; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Forest Lawn 
Cemetery by Dr. Charles H. Smith III. The family will receive friends this 
evening from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel.
Memorial gifts may be given to Christ United Methodist Church, 1601 E. Bayview 
Ave., Norfolk.
