Moulden Ballard, aged 40, of 301 East Berkley avenue, died suddenly in the First Christian Church yesterday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock. Mrs. Ballard was an active worker in the church, being affiliated with the Ladies' Aid Society and the Young People's Auxiliary until about 10 years ago when her health began to fail. Recently her health began to improve and she had gone to church and had communion. While in front of the church after services she complained of not feeling well and was taken back into the church by her husband who sat with her on one of the back seats, where she died a few minutes after. She was the daughter of Mrs. Daisy DeChard Moulden Randolph and the late James H. Moulden, was a native of Washington, D.C. and had made her home in Norfolk 23 years. Surviving are her husband, S.T. Ballard; one daughter, Bettie Anne Ballard, of Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs J.H. Haynes, of Norfolk and Mrs. G.R. Clayton, of Silver Springs, Md.; one brother, Ernest E. Moulden, of Norfolk and one step- brother, George A. Randolph, of Washington, D.C. The body was removed to the Sykes Funeral Home, 121 East Berkley avenue, pending funeral arrangements. ******************************************************************** Mrs. Mabel E. Moulden Ballard - Funeral services for Mrs. Ballard, who died suddenly of a heart attack in the First Christian Church Sunday morning, will be conducted at the church, of which she was an active member, this afternoon at 4 o'clock. Mrs. Ballard, wife of S.T. Ballard, also an active member of the same church, was an assistant in the Berkley office of the Virginian Pilot for a number of years, where she won many friends. She retired at the beginning of her decline in health. The body will be taken from the Sykes Funeral Home to the church this afternoon for the services. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
