Norfolk - Mrs. Hattie L. Barber of 613 Payne street was given last rites at 
Pretlow’s Funeral Home recently, after dying in a local hospital following a 
short illness.  The Rev. H. L. Blackwell conducted the services.

Mrs. Barber was the widow of Lawrence Barber and a daughter of the late James 
Ervin and Mrs. Minnie Mae Ervin.  She was a native of Charlotte, NC.

She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Gordon of Washington and Mrs. Rachel 
Cowell of Charlotte, and three brothers, Arthur Ervin and Clarence Ervin of New 
York and Frederick Ervin of Charlotte.

Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
