NORFOLK - Hermoine M. Barber departed this life Jan. 10, 2010, after a long
illness. Hermoine was born Sept. 9, 1946, in Norfolk. She was retired from the
Virginia Dept. of Corrections. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Maurice
Barber Jr.; her mother, Mamie Murray, to whom she was devoted; her
grandchildren, Todd Tourvin, Kendra Barber and Jordan Barber; her brother,
Edward W. "Butch" Murray (Beverly); her aunts, Barbara Clinton and Leola Mason;
her nephews, Alton Brown and Jimmy Murray; her nieces, Julie Richardson and Lisa
Murray; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her
father, Edward L. "Brick" Murray and her twin sister, Leymoyne M. Brown.
Viewing will be held today from 2 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. The body will
be placed in church at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14. The funeral will be conducted
at noon Thursday in Grace Episcopal Church, 1400 E. Brambleton Ave. with the
Rev. Father Harold J. Cobb officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Riddick Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
