He was a native of Currituck County, N.C., and had made his home in Norfolk and Philadelphia most of his life prior to going to Florida three years ago. He was the son of the late Samuel E. and Amanda Hill Barclay. Mr. Barclay was a prominent brick contractor in Norfolk for many years and was well known in construction circles. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carrie Barclay; two sons, Richard Barclay, Atlanta, Ga., and Eugene Barclay, Richmond; three brothers, C.C. Barclay, Virginia Beach; Eugene B. Barclay, Norfolk, and John E. Barclay, Miami; three sisters, Mrs. W.W. Ballance, Currituck, N.C.; Mrs. Sallie Gray, Norfolk, and Mrs. Fred Coulbourn, Norfolk. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home of E. Lee Cox & Bro., 631 Westover avenue, Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Burial will be in the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery.
