Barfield , 95, formerly of Denison Ave., died Feb. 24, 2002, at Tandem Health Care of Norfolk. She was born in Norfolk, and was the widow of George C. Barfield. She graduated from Hampton University. She was one of the first African American Police Women employed by the City of Norfolk. She retired as a school teacher for the City of Norfolk. She was a member of Saint John's AME Church, Norfolk, where she was a member of the Ruby Cook Fellowship Group, the Women's Missionary Society and The Lay Organization. She was a member of the NAACP, the University Women, and a Red Cross volunteer. She is survived by an adopted family, Willie and Lillie Rascoe and family; special friends, George and Constance Wyatt and family; as well as many friends and co-workers. The family will receive guests at 775 Denison Ave., Norfolk. The family will assemble at the residence for the procession at 11 a.m. Funeral services will be held at noon Friday at Hale Funeral Home, 2100 Ballentine Blvd., Norfolk, with the Rev. L.S. Hinton officiating.
