Barge of 908 Covenant street died recently in a hospital after a short illness. A native of Annapolis, MD, he was the husband of Mrs. Willie E. Barge and a son of the late Cicero and Mrs. Adell Barge. He worked for the Post Office as a mail carrier 30 years. He ws a member of Bank Street Baptist Church. Besides his widow, surviving are a son, John S. Barge Jr., of Norfolk; seven daughters, Mrs. Jacqueline B. Ford of Middleburg, Mrs. Estelle Angston of Brooklyn, Mrs. Jean Gentry of Los Angeles, Mrs. Bernice Phillips of Annapolis, Mrs. Evangeline Nettles of Hampton, and Miss Inez Barge of Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs. Lucretia Snowden and Mrs. Caldonia Johnson of Annapolis and seven grandchildren. A funeral service was held in Bank Street Church by the Rev. John B. Henderson. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Riddick Funeral Service in charge.
