The Virginian-Pilot, April 27, 1935
Mrs. Annie Laurie Barham, aged 65, wife of Bennett T. Barham, died at her 
residence, 3012 Amherst Avenue, yesterday morning [April 26, 1935] at 5:45 
o'clock after a long illness. Besides her husband, she is survived by four 
daughters, Mrs. J. L. Martin, Mrs. J. E. McBride, both of Norfolk; Mrs. H. W. 
Rodgerson of London Bridge and Mrs. H. W. Dewey of Elizabeth City, N.C.; five 
sons, P.M., R.C., D.T., and W.T. Barham, all of Norfolk and T.J. Barham of New 
York City; three sisters, Miss Susie L. Phaup, Mrs. M.L. Newbill and Mrs. J.B. 
White, all of Norfolk; twelve grandchildren and a number of nieces and hephews. 
Mrs. Barham was a native of Chesterfield County and had been a resident of 
Norfolk for 40 years. The body will be taken from the Hollomon-Brown Funeral 
Home to the Lafayette Presbyterian Church of which Mrs. Barham was a member for 
funeral services this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial
will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
