Virginian-Pilot July 6, 1907
BARKER – At the residence of his cousin, Mrs. J. R. Cobb, Waverly, Va., Friday, 
July 5, 1907, at 12:20 a.m., JAMES E. BARKER, aged 76 years.
The funeral will take place TODAY (Saturday) at 12 o’clock noon, from the first 
Baptist Church, Norfolk. Friends and acquaintances respectfully invited to attend.


Additional Comments:
There is a discrepancy between the date of death in the obituary and that on his 
tombstone, probably because he died the night of the 4th, but after midnight, so 
technically it was the 5th.
