Norfolk Virginian Pilot Thursday May 19, 1938
Joseph A. Barlow, aged 76 years, husband of Mrs. Minerva L. Barlow, and son 
of the late Joseph A. and Mrs. Elizabeth Barlow, a native of Richmond, and a 
resident of Norfolk for the past 50 years, died at the residence, 936 Park 
avenue, yesterday morning at 11 o'clock.  Mr. Barlow, retired U.S. Customs 
inspector, was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, of the Holy Name 
Society of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and of Norfolk Council No. 367, 
Knights of Columbus.  Besides his wife, Mrs. Minerva L. Barlow, he is 
survived by one son, Joseph A. Barlow, Jr. of Norfolk; two daughters, Mrs. 
J.A. Blake, of Emporia, and Mrs. M.E. Turner, of Norfolk, and seven 
grandchildren.  Remains will be taken from the H.D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments, 1501 Colonial avenue, to St. Mary's Catholic Church, for 
services tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock.  Interment will be in Elmwood 
Cemetery.  Rosary services will be held at the H.D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments, tonight at 8 o'clock.
