Thompson Barlow, 60, widow of George C. Barlow, died in a Newport News Hospital Monday night at 11:40 o'clock after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late M.J. Thompson and Mrs. Emma Thompson. She was a native of Smithfield and resided in Norfolk for 26 years until a few months ago when she returned to Smithfield. Surviving her are five sons, George C., Jr., Ralph W., Russell T. and Mathew J. Barlow, all of Norfolk, and David E. Barlow, of the U.S. Navy; two daughters, Mrs. F.P. Duke, of Baltimore, and Mrs. P.J. Cross, of Norfolk; a brother, Crawley Thompson, of Hilton Village; four sisters, Mrs. Jessie Flugham and Mrs. W. C. Harrell, of Newport News; Miss Lucy Thompson, of Smithfield, and Mrs. M.T. Farrell of Philadelphia, and 18 grandchildren. The body will be taken from the funeral chapel of James V. Derry Thursday afternoon to the Zion Methodist Church, where funeral services will be conducted at 4 o'clock by the Rev. C.T. Topping, pastor. Burial will be in the family plot in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
