Ledger-Dispatch March 29, 1916
Mrs. Mary Eleanor Barnes, who was well known and highly esteemed in this city, 
died last Thursday in Boston, Mass., in her sixty-sixth year. She was the widow of 
Preston P. Barnes. The body will arrive in Norfolk this afternoon, for funeral and 
burial in Elmwood cemetery tomorrow morning at 10:30 o’clock. The services will be 
conducted by Rev. S. W. Melton, of Freemason Street Baptist Church, at the grave.

Additional Comments:
Her middle name was spelled Elenor on her tombstone.
