Rosa Barnes, 78, of 1500 Berkley avenue, died recently in a local hospital after a short illness. A native of Southampton County, she was the daughter of Willie Fisher and Mrs. Addie F. Powell and the widow of the Rev. James A. Barnes. She lived in Norfolk 60 years and founded New Rising Sun Holiness Church, United Holiness Church of America in 1935, of which she was the pastor. She is survived by a son, McCoy Garris of Baltimore; one brother, Samuel L. Fisher of Norfolk. A funeral service was held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in New Rising Sun Holiness Church by Bishop T. E. Talley. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Fitchett Funeral Home in charge.
