The Virginian-Pilot, Thursday, April 21, 1960

NORFOLK - Mrs. Alice Cloyd Barnes of 737 Washington Ave. died Wednesday at 6 
a.m. in a Norfolk hospital after a long illness.

A daughter of Mrs. Lucy Cloyd and the late George Cloyd, she was a native of 
Seaboard, N.C. She had been in Norfolk about 30 years.

She was a member of Harriet Tent 555, United Order of Tents, and of New Calvary 
Baptist Church.

Besides her mother, surviving are her husband, James L. Barnes; one son, Louis 
F. Barnes of New York City; one daughter, Mrs. Edith B. Reid of Norfolk; one 
sister, Mrs. India Long of Seaboard and four brothers, Robert B. Cloyd of 
Norfolk, George M. Cloyd, USN, stationed in Texas, Jethro Cloyd and Levi Cloyd, 
both of New York City.

The body was taken to Riddick Funeral Service.

A funeral service will be held at New Calvary Baptist Church Saturday at 1 p.m. 
by the Rev. Samuel A. Wilson, pastor. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
