The Virginian-Pilot, Monday, October 13, 1986

VIRGINIA BEACH - J. Lewis Barnes of the 5600 block of Weblin drive died October 
12, 1986, in a hospital.

Mr. Barnes, a native of Seaboard, N.C., was a retired cast metal operator. He 
had been employed by The Virginian-Pilot for 35 years and was the widower of 
Alice C. Barnes.

Survivors include a daughter, Edith B. Reid of Virginia Beach; a son, Lewis 
Fleetwood Barnes of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren; and three great-
grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday in Jones Funeral Chapel, 
Norfolk, by the Rev. George Henry. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Jones 
Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
