The Virginian-Pilot, Saturday, September 3, 1960

NORFOLK - Mrs. Hattie A. Barnes, 66, of 1818 Berkley Ave., extended, died Friday 
at 4:30 p.m. at her home after a long illness.

She was a daughter of Allen and Mrs. Hattie Simpson and was a native of 
Elizabeth City, N.C. She had lived in Norfolk 40 years.

Surviving are her husband, William Barnes, and two brothers, Lemuel Simpson of 
Norfolk and Clifton Simpson of New York City.

The body was taken to Morning Glory Funeral Home.
