NORFOLK - Almond A. Barnes, 57, of 114 W. 27th St. died Thursday in Kecoughtan 
Veterans Hospital.

A native of Bertie County, N.C., he was a son of Joseph and Mrs. Eliza Barnes 
and the husband of Mrs. Annie Barnes.

He was a member of Oliver Grove Disciples Church, a veteran of World War II and 
a 17-year retired employe of the Naval Supply Center.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Dorie M. Barnes and John G. 
Barnes of Norfolk of Norfolk and James A. Barnes of Ft. Gordon, Ga.; three 
daughters, Mrs. Patricia Roberson of Charleston, S.C., Mrs. Marva L. Beckley of 
Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mrs. Vivian Briggs of Cleveland, a sister, Mrs. Maggie 
Roscoe of Williamston, Luther Barnes of Portsmouth, and Reuben Barnes of 
California; and four grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Jones Funeral Chapel by the 
Rev. J.P. Robertson. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
