NORFOLK - John T. Barnes, 46, of the 3600 block of Killam Ave., a former salesman,
died June 26, 1989, in his home.

Mr. Barnes, a native of Norfolk, was a member of Queen Street Baptist Church. He was
a graduate of Norfolk State University and received his master's degree in English
and mathematics from New York University. He was formerly on the faculty of
Commonwealth College, Norfolk.

Survivors include his parents, Lucille H. and James C. Barnes Sr., and a brother,
James C. Barnes Jr., all of Norfolk.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Queen Street Baptist Church by the
Rev. Howard Purvis. Burial will be private. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk,
is handling arrangements.
