Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, October 4, 1996 
Mary Barnes, of the 2500 block of Tidewater Drive, died Sept. 30, 1996, in a
local hospital.

Born in Tarboro, N.C., she was the widow of Granville Barnes. She was a domestic
and a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Norfolk.

Survivors include three daughters, Hattie Pearl Buie of Norfolk, Geneva Perry of
Rocky Mount, N.C., Thelma Buie of Norfolk; five sons, James, Thomas, Johnnie,
Wilbert Ray, Marshall (Sam) Jones, all of Norfolk; a brother, Willie Andrews of
Greensboro, N.C.; 43 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of other
relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Antioch Missionary Baptist
Church, 525 Dinwiddie St., Norfolk, by Dr. I. Joseph Williams. Burial will be in
Calvary Cemetery . Family and friends will assemble at 2519 Tidewater Drive,
Norfolk, at 1 p.m. Saturday for the procession to the church. Metropolitan
Funeral Service is in charge.
