Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - October 9, 2010 
NORFOLK - John Percell Barnes Sr., 85, of the 100 block of Seekel St., passed
away Oct. 6, 2010. He was born Nov. 12, 1924, to the late Ola and James A.
Barnes Sr. in Norfolk.

John was a member of Holy Trinity Outreach Mission. He retired from the Naval
Air Rework Facility after 32 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian B. Barnes; five daughters, Jane Lattimore
(Sherman), Carolyn Lewis (Donald), Linda Barnes, Brenda Cooper (Leander), Angela
West; one son, John P. Barnes Jr.; one sister, Audrey Sweatt (Floyd Sr.); 14
grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby
St. Chapel. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk. Viewing will be from
11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Watch service live online at
