Stephen Michael Barney, 60, passed away March 23, 2013. He was a native of 
Kingston, Pennsylvania, and a resident of Norfolk for most of his life. He was the 
son of Bernadine Ruseskos Barney and the late Stephen Barney.
Steve was a graduate of Norfolk Catholic High School, class of 1970, and Old 
Dominion University with a degree in Business. He was employed for 37 years by the 
Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority where he was a Project Manager.
He was a Roman Catholic and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Peggy Price Barney, of Norfolk, and their 
two children; Kelly C. Barney and Bret P. Barney, both of Norfolk; his mother of 
Virginia Beach and his sister, Bernadine White, and her husband, Whitey, of 
Collington Harbor, NC.; his mother- and father-in-law, Mary and Frank Price; and 
brothers- and sisters-in-law, Dennis Price and his wife, Kathy, Donny Price and 
his wife, Barbara, Kelly Price, Mary Kay Price-Lawrence and her husband, David, 
Eileen Price and her husband, Bene, and Joan Price-Bayer and her husband, Hayden. 
He also leaves behind his aunts, Rosalie R. Hoffman and Mary Lou Williams, many 
cousins, nieces and nephews and one great-niece.
He was a devoted son and husband, but his most cherished role was that of being a 
father. He never tired of talking about them and sharing his pride and love for 
them.
A Christian Wake Service will be held in the Norfolk Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral 
Apts., Tuesday evening at 7 p.m., with a visitation with the family until 9:00 PM.
The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, March 27, at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic 
Church, by the Reverend James Griffin. Interment will follow in St. Mary's 
Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School, 4552 
Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
